This beautiful and festive ornament was handmade in Ecuador in a small village high in the Andes Mountains. Working closely with the local artisans there has been a privilege for over twenty years. Displaying and selling ornaments such as this one in New York City year after year at Grand Central Terminal at the yearly Holiday Fair and the Columbus Circle Holiday Market has been a huge success.

They are loved and enjoyed by locals as well as visitors from all over the world. This, in turn, has been a source of lucrative support for the indigenous people, families and community.

These dough dolls are made of wheat flour, hot water and salt. The dough is mixed and divided in large balls, dye added and sculpted into individual figures. Fingers , as well as long needles are used to create the tiniest details. Upon completion, they are ready to be baked in large ovens. After the baking, lacquer is applied in large barrels providing a protective coating allowing them to last for many, many years .

The figurines are guaranteed to bring love and joy, and have become a family tradition in many homes throughout the world.
